Selection of original Montasio PDO cheese
Montasio is a semi-hard, cows' milk cheese originating from the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions, in northern Italy. It is a traditional fresh Italian cheese which process dates back to the 13th century, produced for the first time by the monks of Abbey of Moggio. At Alifood, we think that it’s important preserve the original producing method to offer the authentic taste and for this, we select only manufacturers who follow aged-old traditional methods.
Montasio has the characteristic "eyes" spread throughout the cheese and
revels a harmonious, mild flavor heightened by the pleasant aroma when young; otherwise, it is more pungent when aged.
