Asiago DOP cheese: aged or young traditional hard Italian cheese from Veneto
Discover Alifood selection of Asiago DOP, traditional PDO Italian cheese.
Asiago DOP is a cows' milk cheese, produced on the Asiago plateau in the Veneto region. This hard Italian cheese dates back more than one thousand years. Asiago DOP is a traditional Italian cheese with two versions: “Asiago d’allevo” (or aged Asiago) matured from three months to two years and “Asiago pressato” (or young Asiago) aged a month and which has a higher fat content. The aged Asiago DOP is full-flavored, sharp and pungent, but, when young, it is milder and with a slightly sweet and milky flavor. Based to its age, Italian Asiago DOP cheese can be used for grating or slicing in salads, sandwiches and soups, but it is excellent also with different kinds of pasta.
